Serkan Yüksel
Born in 1976 in Kırklareli, he studied for two years at Trakya University Faculty of Education and later enrolled in the Sculpture Department of Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts in 1998, graduating in 2002. He completed his master’s degree in the Sculpture Department at Marmara University between 2006 and 2009.
His works largely consist of metaphors drawn from a diseased society, politics, and everyday life, where intellectual and emotional tensions are experienced. Beginning primarily with drawing, he incorporates collage and various other techniques into his process. He uses clothing patterns from fashion magazines of the 1970s–80s, as well as archival newspapers, printed materials, and images as source material. Guided by selected concepts, he aims to produce works with an ironic tone, embracing both remembering and reminding.
