Ayşe Demirci
Born in Bursa in 1994, she graduated with honors from Hacettepe University Faculty of Fine Arts in 2016 and continued her master’s studies at the same university. Throughout numerous exhibitions, she has presented works that fundamentally question “spatial perception.” While continuing her studio practice, she fulfilled her dream of opening an exhibition in an alternative space together with fellow artists. In this exhibition, titled “Mağara” (The Cave), she had the opportunity to transform the space in accordance with the conceptual foundation of the project. Her works reflect an effort to discover a new “self,” beginning from the inner layers of the individual and drawing from cultural contexts to create a personal space for this renewed identity. Demirci describes space not as a shelter driven by the instinct to escape the outside world, but as an area where the individual can exist, experience, and construct meaning. Ultimately, her works serve as symbolic extensions of the moment in which the individual finds themselves after a process of maturation.
