Photograph artist Serhat Akavcı's first solo exhibition titled "Ecdysis" has been extended due to the intense interest. The exhibition can be seen at Labirent Sanat until 27 November 2021.

Serhat Akavcı's first solo exhibition titled Ecdysis consists of photographs that draw parallels between the psychological transformation of the individual and the biological metamorphosis experienced by arthropods when they change their shells opens at Labirent Sanat on 14 October 2021.

​

Ecdysis is a shell change. Allowing the body to grow and change, to allow a kind of innovation… Even though it is an external change observed, the movement actually takes place from the inside out. Unlike other living beings in nature, change in humans is long-term and painful. Here are the recent works of Akavcı in the exhibition, the productions of such a change process… A kind of hesitation of the transformation process of both the artist and the individuals whose main profession is not modeling…

In his photographs, where the external, modified traces of identity are blurred or even hidden, Serhat Akavcı invites the audiences a dialogue through the protective but also transparent layer of the body, the skin. The bodies that Akavcı objectifies in his works are like the carriers of the communication language of a preverbal and preliteracy era... We witness the unwritten stories through body language of the figures who hide while presenting and settle out with all their nakedness to be themselves.
